The Sas-Views

In previous posts I have talked about the countless Sasquatch interviews I've done throughout the years.  And I wanted to share these with everyone! They were not only awesome to hear but were  extremely fun to conduct.. Every so often I will post a new interview.  They are done completely at random, (that's how I roll people) And unfortunately  can never really remember the persons name I'm interviewing. So I will make a name up for each character!

Enjoy these Sas-Views!

Subject A: "Older Aussie"

Happenings:

I sat down at a bar in Portland,Oregon right next to the Voodoo donut. I was inside for a very long time spilling at least 4 beers that day. (party fowl I know) I rarely go into bars alone but this was my vacation guys, so I decided to just chill for a while. By the time I actually got a few drinks into my system you could not shut me up about Sasquatch. In fact id like too see someone try! Especially on this day, I was high on Portland and feeling free as a bird.  The "Older Aussie " who looked to be in his 70's was sitting two stools down from me.  I introduced myself and told him where I was from and he told me he was from Australia. I proceed to ask him "What are your thoughts on the Sasquatch or the Yowie?" He replied with a big smile on his face "They are not real , there are none and why are you asking me this?!?

Well  I said it was because I was in love with Sasquatch, and researching and talking peoples ears off about them. He laughed at me, imagine that!  I think he was just surprised that a girl would be in a bar asking such a question, (this is 2013, right?) but who knows really, I never met this guy in my entire  life. I kept pestering him on why he didn't think they are out there and told him about all the footprint evidence, hairs, etc. His answer continued to be the same, "they are just not!"  I'm just laid back and easy breezy, so I smiled and nodded several times. Even though It was disappointing to my heart. I still talked to him for about an hour more, Mostly about 70's music and Tasmania where he was from. "Older Aussie" didn't even like the Beegee's, which was just weird to me! How can you be from Australia dude? Come on, Not even Barry?!  But besides that, he seemed to be an alright guy, and I enjoyed the conversation with him.

Subject B: "Hippie Biker"

Happenings:

This guy tips the scales of Awesomeness. I was sitting down in a bar with my brother this past week in our hometown. He pretty much dragged me into this local waterhole. I had just been Squatchin' all day and my hair looked like the bride of Frankenstein at that point. So needless to say I didn't want to go in! I obviously Got myself a Yuengling Lager and went and sat outside on the patio. (by this point my brother was wandering, whats new!) "hippie biker" was sitting there with his lady drinking a beer. I sat down and kept to myself for a moment. The lady started a conversation with me and soon the old biker joined the discussion. The next step was dropping the question bomb on him,"What are your thoughts on Bigfoot?" BOOM! His answer? Bigfoot is real! YES! I was ecstatic that at least someone in this town (besides me) knows the truth!! Yippee!

So he went on to tell me that sometime in the 1960's  him and some boys from school would go down to the river. This river was over on the west side of Columbus,  and under the bridge was where the kids use to party..He said that they saw a small black weirdly shaped creature around the area at that time. "The boys all thought it was a Bigfoot." he said. .Well a few years went past and the creature was still spotted lurking around  that same river from time to time. Somehow animal control got involved and captured it. They found out later it was actually a bear with deformities with patches of hair missing. Then he went on to UFO's. But before that he told me his thought was that Bigfoot was an ape of some kind and completely not paranormal.""That craps a bunch of B.s. but UFOs are cool." He was pretty much two sheets to the wind by that portion of my Sas-View. Then he went really in depth on UFO's, for a good hour! Thoroughly enjoyed this interview, he was one cool cat! I actually have seen "Hippie Biker" around town before, but it's a small town. Everybody knows pretty much everybody here.

Squatchy Goodness

 Bigfoot.
I have a lot of enthusiasm and wonder about this subject.
 I get up everyday thinking
"what's going to happen to make this day full of Squatchy goodness?"
Learning about Sasquatch is the spice of life for me and always in the forefront of my mind. The day before yesterday was a gloomy day,and for a girl like me these days are the absolute best. Being excited was an understatement!

Incredible

So I jumped into my Chevy and headed out east, to roll the dice on another nature preserve.(Yes another one) This one felt special to me, it had been a while since I had traveled this far on my own. Not because I didn't want to, but for having had limited use of my car in the past few weeks. It took me a mere 40 minutes to get there from Columbus. (where I reside) I really enjoy the freedom it brings me , and the escape it gives from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Ah, who am I kidding? I love everything about Bigfooting!

Blackhand Gorge Nature Preserve

957 acres seems like plenty of room for a Sasquatch to be frolicking freely! The licking river runs just east of the trail, and there are a few little stagnant ponds just to the west. The narrow sandstone gorge was just one of the breathtakingly beautiful features of this park. The wildlife was plentiful, and I had noticed plenty of Squatchy hiding spots around almost every corner! I had even seen some cute baby deer just a few feet away and some very rascally squirrels throwing nut shells at me!

My mind is always in investigative mode, one of the  many things I focus on out in the field are the trees. They hold a bunch of clues and intrigue when it comes to Bigfoot in my opinion. On top of this gorge were trees that had "fallen down" and trees that looked as if the branches were pulled off of them making them almost bare. I always have my eyes open to this. Also alot of strangely placed trees blocking the path that lead up to the top of this rocky gorge. This looked like a perfect Squatchy vantage point to me.

thought this looked interesting and odd

here are some trees with  the branches pulled off.
If any other animal would do this, I would really love to know!

This place is also very historical. The name came from a black hand shaped Native American Petroglyph, which was engraved on a large sandstone cliff. This was along the northern side of the licking river. Unfortunately the Petroglyph was destroyed in 1828 when canal builders had dynamited the face of the cliff. This was during the construction of the Ohio-Erie canal which actually runs through the gorge. You can still see the towpaths as well.  If I were a Sasquatch I would totally call this awesome place home. Having many food and water sources, secret hiding spots, and being closed after dark; I think its safe to say this place has a whole lot of Squatchy Goodness to go around. This preserve was full of mysterious wonders. I will most definitely be back to try and solve them.

I Heart Portland

Sweet smelling, easy breezy Portland! Don't know how I
let this trip sit on the back burner for so long. After a 6 hour plane ride and alot of sweaty confusion I had finally made it. I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderfully awesome Oregon turned out to be.

this is me before the max train, trust me you don't want to see the after pic!

For my very first day I took a long walk to the max train from the hotel from which I was staying.
I was determined to have a real city experience, and boy was it one! First of all I do not have a smart phone like everyone else does in the world (or so it seems)  I really had no clue where i was going on this train, and  didn't really care! Ended up at some street festival down by a fountain.(I really didn't know where I was like I said ) Seen some awesome street performers, Drank enough beer to shut down the city and did some random Bigfoot Interviews. Have been doing these "interviews"for many years. I just never thought about telling anyone before.  Basically I ask strangers what their opinions and theory's are on Bigfoot.
I have heard some really interesting things over the years and enjoy the Sas-randomness which ensues.

Guy Edwards was awesome, And also this random photo bomber
HopsSquatch !

Well first of all anything with the word squatch in it and hops I automatically love. This was one of the best times I've had in a while. I got to listen to Joe Beelart speak or "King Of The Clackamas" as some of you may know him by. Not to mention it was held at a Pub! The creator Guy Edwards was an extremely nice person, and did a fabulous job. Thank you to all the people at HopsSquatch that showed me great hospitality and a wonderful time. Cheers!
You must go to this event! It is held the last Sunday of every month in Portland, Oregon.

For more information on HopsSquatch visit HopsSquatch.com
Guy Edwards also has a website called  bigfootlunchclub.com
its packed with awesome stories and beautiful Bigfoot history!

Pretty much my entire life I have been called weird, I'm use to it, and don't care anymore! Its not to say that I am a bad person,  just a little kookie, I really thrive on it! And drink all the weird koolaid I can. Its not like my family didn't help make me that way.(thanks mom! haha ) My mom is the type of person who introduces her self as "Abby Normal.". So yeah. Its about time we found you Portland, I think you were made especially for us. Keep Portland Weird ! And always remember to embrace your weirdness!

My Amazing casts made by Thom Powell

Bigfooting with Thom

One of the major pluses of my adventure was going Bigfooting with Thom Powell. He is awesomely eccentric, and a great guy all around. He did me a solid by letting me go with him. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures with him. Just kind of forgot as we were talking the entire time. (I'm sure he won't mind) After an extremely Squatchy drive, We made it out to his research area sometime after midnight. Before I could say anything he started mixing up some plaster. I was a little confused as to why for a minute.(insert blonde joke here) He was teaching me a little about it in the process, which I appreciated. I had no clue he was actually making them for little ol' me! As everyone who reads this blog knows I have never seen or touched a cast in my life, but now  I actually own Two of  them boy was I psyched!  While we waited for the plaster to dry we made our way out into the wild in search of "the big guy." We started to use a flashlight, then he told me to turn it off and let my eyes adjust to the dark. Seeing as I wanted to experience this his way I just went along for the ride. Heard a few different rustlings in the trees but we couldn't pinpoint exactly what the sounds were. We walked around a bit , and I got stabbed in the face with a sticky bush. Ouchies! Then he took me to where he had a few experiences before. We sat down  by a tree for a minute talked about how he heard some crashing coming down the same spot we were siting. After a few minutes we got up and he made a fire, and just chatted about different thoerys and ways of the Squatch. It was great to talk to someone with such an open mind for once. Also we drank water out of beer bottles (haha.) cannot say I have ever done that before. He also played some music as we were sitting and talking, it was totally boss!

While we were siting by the fire I got an odd feeling of anxiousness in my heart, and started shaking uncontrollably. I obviously am very healthy and know that for a fact. So what was it that caused me to shake and feel this way? (I didn't eat any sushi if that's what your thinking)
I have got this feeling a few times deep in the woods, Never to this extreme though. Believe me when I tell you this was odd! I have a good head on my shoulders and know there are countless possibilities for this (maybe?) Was I feeling some Sas-Energy? who knows.
Anything is possible in life. You just have to go out and Bigfoot with an open mind and an open heart. I just want to thank Thom Powell for being so awesome, It was an experience of a lifetime for me. I would definitely go Bigfooting with him again. Thank you for the casts bro and really enjoyed talking with you!

Portland was absolutely amazing to me. The people were friendly, the beer was too good, and the Sasquatch I love is close by. Not to mention it was vividly green and beautiful. Wishing I could click my heels and be there right now! I will be back and when I return ,will  be making the lovely Bigfooters all the fried chicken they can eat!  That's a Promise!
